You are working away, engaged in something specific – a random thought comes into your mind. You wonder, as I do, what prompted it? Other times, a “thought” can become a recurring, rather incessant, presence.
Recently, I’ve been experiencing this more frequently. I ponder what God’s spirit may be telling me, impressing on me and inviting me into?
This thought has been recurring from Matthew 6:33
How quickly my attention, my loyalty, my seeking Him first can be drawn away or diverted from Him. How easily my thoughts, attitudes and actions can move from what He has declared to be most important.
Sound familiar?
My good friend, and DeliberateU coach, Luch sent me a blog post by Anne Voskamp. It is titled “How To Really Live!”.
Sobered! After reading it, my heart responds (as she writes) “I can only bow my head!”
Anne writes about the account of Maximillian Kolbe, a World War II Auschwitz prisoner who offered his life in exchange for another in the camp. Read these words he had written to his mother…
While I am not minimizing what you may be experiencing right now, I suspect you would agree that you and I are not living in Auschwitz. In the midst of what you and I are experiencing, are we able to say…
“Everything is well in my regard.
Be tranquil about me and about my health, because the good God is everywhere and provides for everything with love.”
As I read these words I am reflecting on Jesus and on Maximillian Kolbe. They invite us to bow our heads and offer up all the things of this world that consume our hearts and minds. They invite us to, once again, relinquish our compulsions for control, to be right, to be significant, to be relevant in the eyes of those around us. They invite us to seek Him first! They invite us to know that all the things we “need” will only be realized once we have rightly placed Jesus as priority in all things.
As Kolbe reflected…
Our “good God is everywhere and provides for everything with love.”
What are you seeking today? Are you satisfied that your good God is everywhere and provides for everything with love – in your relationships and your business?
A Maverick Application:
- Read and reflect on Matt 6:33
- Ask God to show you where you may be seeking things ahead of Him and/or without His perspective?
- Confess where needed. Choose to see your good God again and make it right with Him.
- Who will you share this with?
