Is your history defining you?

Too often the pain of past decisions, not done well, can be numbed….even forgotten. If not careful, we run the risk of repeating the very same mistakes …..ones that continue to fuel current messes.

“To say that one is a learner and to ignore their own history is to not be a learner at all!”
Don’t be like your ancestors who would not listen or pay attention when the earlier prophets said to them, ‘This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: Turn from your evil ways, and stop all your evil practices.’
Zechariah 1:4 NLT
Remember the days of long ago; think about the generations past. Ask your father, and he will inform you. Inquire of your elders, and they will tell you.
Deuteronomy 32:7 NLT
Here are 3 questions you can ask to help not repeat an unwelcomed history.
- Where might you be like your “ancestors”, not listening or paying attention to what you know God is asking of you?
- What feedback from Godly men and women may you be ignoring, justifying, pretending…just hoping that your future will be better?
- What ungodly patterns are you tolerating in your attitudes and actions, ones you know are far from what you would see as your best?

A Deliberate Application:
- Which of the above questions resonates most?
- Who will you share this with?
