This must be so very difficult for you!” His face revealed the very real weight he was feeling in that moment.
No question about it, this was a significantly challenging decision. The implications were many. The impact would be felt in multiple areas of this leader’s world, both at work and home. Yet, even knowing the potential fallout, this leader clearly knew what he needed to do.
This owner was preparing to have a meeting with a key person in his company, someone who had been with him since the dream began. How could it be that he was now faced with the stark reality of “inviting this person to work elsewhere”?
As we reflected and prayed together over this situation, my mind went to a powerful passage in Isaiah. God has used this passage in my life a number of times to provide a solid level of passion, clarity and focus right in the heart of the press….when I have needed to engage in something that felt unbelievably challenging. I invited my friend and colleague to do the same. Together, we opened the scriptures and entered into what God would have for us in Isaiah 43:1-4 NLT.
And then we prayed.
Perhaps you are in a really tough situation today. Maybe the One who made you is inviting you to hear His still, small voice reminding you of these truths as you face your own challenge.
Here are a few reminders that God’s spirit prompted within us as we prayed over this really tough situation. God reminded us of what we needed to hear in the midst of “deep waters” and “fires of oppression”.
What tough situation might you be facing? I invite you to find a quiet place and pray…
“Father…
You are the one who made me.
You formed me!
Because of You, I choose to NOT be afraid.
I believe You are calling me,
Reminding me that I am yours.
Even though I may not feel it, I choose what is true.
Father…
When I go through the deep waters, I know that You are with me.
When I go through the rivers of difficulty, I will not drown.
When I walk through the fire of oppression, I will not be burned up; the flames will not consume me!
Father…
You are the Lord, my God, the Holy One of Israel, and my Savior.
You gave everything for my freedom. Christ Himself, Your Son, paid all that was needed. I choose to rest in the fact that it is finished. I will not “return to Egypt”.
Father…
Today, in this moment…
I fill up with the unbelievable reality that I am precious to You;
Honored by You
Loved by You!
God met us that day. Will you invite Him to meet you too, as you face a rough road ahead?
Deliberate Application:
- Invite God into your own challenge
- Who will you share this with?
