Here is a helpful post from our archives reminding you to be bold in your sales.
A number of years ago I received some great sales training. One key principle has been indelibly imprinted on my mind. It is a phrase that has served me well, and at times, haunted me!
The instructor was a tall, gregarious man with a very thick European accent. At one point he leaned toward me, face in my space, abruptly clapping his hands together twice and rhythmically booming the words…”Be Bold”!
As you could imagine, I jumped! So did everyone in the room. The instructor was doing his part to ensure that this key principle for successful sales and life was etched in our thinking for all time. Trust me, he was more than successful.
So let me “Be Bold” for a moment and encourage you to do the same. Take a moment and reflect on the following statements. Remember to download our tool to evaluate your boldness as a sales leader.

1. I am bold in my sense of value as a Christ follower in the market place.
This is not an egotistical, self-centered view; but one that serves and contributes to the lives of your colleagues and clients. It is a view that creates space for you to bring clear, purposeful value to their world. This is a kingdom view of self.
“It doesn’t mean that I think less of myself. It means that I think about myself less!!”
2. I am bold in my passion for the value our products and/or services provide our clients.
One of the “secrets” to successful sales is the transfer of energy – your passion! If you are genuine in your passion about the value that your product and/or service can add to your client, it will be contagious. All things being equal, passion will win the day.
“Passion is caught not taught!!”
3. I am bold in my pursuit to master the art of selling so we can serve our clients better.
For most business people, selling is not their first love. To be a masterful kingdom focused sales person requires continual learning about:
– yourself
– your product / service
– your ideal clients
– your unique value proposition
You steadily ponder what is working or not; adjusting, as needed, to ensure that your ideal clients love to ‘rave’ about the value you have brought them.
“Sales is not for the faint of heart – but for those with heart!”
4. I am bold in ensuring that our sales systems increase ease and decrease wear and tear on our team and our clients.
Bold sales leadership requires bold systems if the leader wants sustainable, predictable revenue. More often than not, business leaders charge into sales without great systems in place to support them. The impact is ongoing wasted time, frustrated leaders and more pressure than needed.
“Predictable, sustainable sales requires bold systems.”
5. I am bold in keeping our “tribe” clear.
Many a sales leader or business owner chases every lead and any lead. If you are interested in wasted time, frustrated conversations and poor, low margin results then chase every wisp of a lead that comes your way.
Seth Godin, in his tremendously helpful book “The Purple Cow“, truly nails this principle for us. If you haven’t read it, it will be worth your while.
6. I am bold in keeping our “unique value proposition” (UVP) clear today and into the future.
– How clear is the value you bring for your clients?
– If they were interviewed, what would they say is the value received from you and your business?
– What is it about your business that would have them tell their friends? Would they?
– Are you continually refining your people and processes so that they are aligned with your UVP today and into the future?
“If you aim for nothing, you’ll hit it every time!”
