Christ Following Business Owner… Are You Asking These 4 Questions?

“I don’t know what to think?” Recently, this leader was reeling from some very unwelcomed feedback. In the midst of the difficult reality of this situation, there began serious wrestling of how to “right size” a turbulent mind along with the barrage of very confusing thoughts and emotions.

A lack of rigor in how we process and think can cause havoc in our lives. One way to assess whether or not this is true for you is to use the lens of God’s word as a frame for “evaluating” your thinking.

What do you “think” about these verses?

Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps. Proverbs 14:15 NLT
But test everything that is said. Hold on to what is good. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 NLT
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Romans 12:2 NLT
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing, Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLT
Those who trust their own insight are foolish, but anyone who walks in wisdom is safe. Proverbs 28:26 NLT

Here are 4 questions you can ask as you “think” about leading yourself, your business and your personal world. 

  1. What informs my thinking regarding my approach to sales and marketing? Worldly thinkin’ or Kingdom thinkin’?
  2. What informs my mindset regarding my approach to leadership of self and people?   Worldly thinkin’ or Kingdom thinkin’?
  3. What behaviors and customs of the world am I adopting into my business without thinking? Worldly thinkin’ or Kingdom thinkin’?
  4. What are my thoughts “fixed on” as I face my every-day pressures? Worldly thinkin’ or Kingdom thinkin’?
